As invited by CSIRO (Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation) of Australia, research fellow Li Wei-xin and research assistant Wang Wen-lin of our institute attended the conference on pollution control in rivers and ecological conversation at Oct 20, 2014. CSIRO Land & Water Flagship welcomed the arrival of Dr. Li and Dr. Wang, and presented the history of CSIRO , research focuses and major achievements of CSIRO Land & Water Flagship. Dr. Li Wei-xin gave the academic speech entitled “Construction of the comprehensive management platform of transboundary water environment in the catchment ofLake Taihu, China”. Colleagues from both countries had a broad and in-depth exchange of views on issues covering catchment management, eco-compensation, current situation and accomplishment in ecologcial conservation. The CSIRO fellows also guided Dr. Li and Dr. Wang to visit the Black Mountain Laboratory of CSIRO Land & Water Flagship, water projects and hydrological stations located in the upstream area ofMurrumbidgee, which is a major branch in the watershed of Murray-Darling.
Advanced experiences in catchment management were aquisited via this visit, which greatly benefits to smoothly implement the project “Construction and operation of the comprehensive management platform of transboundary water environment in the catchment of Lake Taihu”.
