Brief Introduction

 Founded in 1994, the OFDC-MEP is the pioneer of the organic movement in China. It initiated organic movement in China and is now an authoritative and core institution in the promotion of organic sector of China. It is also an internationally influential organization. It has long been engaged in research on policies, standards, production technology, planning, publicity, training and quality control of organic farming and eco-farming, and provided technical support to decision-makers. 

Scientific Research

 ●Accomplished more than 30 research projects including National Science and Technology Key Projects, Environmental Public Welfare Projects, Natural Science Fund projects and Central Public Welfare Research Institution Fund projects, etc.

●Winner of 2 ministerial science and technology progress award;

●Published more than 300 research papers, 12 monographs and has been awarded 10 patents. 

Publicity and Extension

 ●Editing and issuing the Chinese first organic journal “Organic Food Times” since 1996;

●Organizing national and regional organic expos and workshops since 1999 and making significant contributions to the building up of a long-term organic trade platform.

●Organizing annual national and regional trainings on development and information exchange since 1994.

●Conducting the first Chinese organic standard oriented organic inspector training seminar in abroad in 2014. 

International Exchange

●Participated in conferences, workshops and forums organized by international organizations such as FAO, UNEP, UNCTAD, IFOAM, etc;

●OFDC members joined IFOAM Standard Committee and Development Committee, and has been elected as vice president of IFOAM Asia and member of IFOAM World Board;

●Has established long term cooperation with well-known organic organizations such as FiBL, Soil Association, Grolink, OCIA, OCIA-JAPAN, NASAA, ICEA and BAC, etc.

●Providing organic inspector trains to Asian and European countries for promoting the development and cooperation of organic sectors in Asia and Europe.
