The China-Cambodia Workshop on Ecosystem and Biodiversity Conservation was held from December 18 to 20 in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. The workshop was sponsored by the China-ASEAN Environment Cooperation Center of the Ministry of Ecology and Environment of the People’s Republic of China and assisted by the General Secretariat of the National Council for Sustainable Development of the Kingdom of Cambodia. The purpose of the workshop is to implement the memorandum of understanding on cooperation between the two countries, to carry out exchanges and discussions in the field of ecosystem and biodiversity conservation, and to lay a foundation for further cooperation in specific projects. More than 60 participants from the China-ASEAN Environment Cooperation Center, Nanjing Institute of Environmental Sciences of the Ministry of Ecology and Environment, Beijing Qiaonyu Foundation, Cambodian Ministry of Environment, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Tonle Sap Lake Management Committee, local environmental protection departments and social organizations in Cambodia attended the workshop. At the workshop, the researcher of the Nanjing Institute of Environmental Sciences of the Ministry of Environmental Protection (NIES), Dr. Dandan Yu gave a keynote speech on "Experience Sharing on Ecosystem and Biodiversity Conservation Practice in China".
During the event, the organizer held seminars to brief on the implementation of the key tasks of the Preparatory Office of the China-Cambodia Environmental Cooperation Center, to discuss the key tasks and promote the construction of the Office in 2019, and to implement donations of sewage treatment facilities and the design and implementation of long-term biodiversity cooperation projects.
