China’s ECR has been highly recognized by the international community. Hence, in order to promote and introduce China’s practice and experience in the delimitation of ECR to the international community, IUCN and Nanjing Institute of Environmental Science (NIES) jointly developed the ECR delimitation toolkit.

The toolkit proposes an international method for the ECR delimitation, and promotes the concept, methods and tools of ECR in global and regional eco-environmental protection planning, nature conservation actions and natural resource management decision-making. The toolkit also facilitates the scientific assessment of ecosystem services. Government agencies, planning departments, regional organizations, enterprises and environmentalists can use the toolkit to carry out ecological conservation planning at the regional and national level.
