From September 18-22, 2023, the 17th International Symposium on Persistent Toxic Substances (PTS) took place at the University of Macau. The symposium concentrated on current hot topics and emerging trends in the fields of international environmental chemistry and ecotoxicology, offering a comprehensive exchange platform for global experts and scholars in the research of toxic chemical pollutants. It aimed to stimulate academic communication and collaboration within these areas on an international scale.
The symposium was co-hosted by the University of Macau, Hong Kong Baptist University, the Research Center for Eco-Environmental Sciences of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and AU Fong Technology Limited. It attracted around 150 participants from various regions, including Australia, Canada, Mainland China, Hong Kong, Macau, and Taiwan, all contributing their wisdom to the relevant fields. The editorial team of Eco-Environment & Health (EEH) traveled to Macau for the event, which not only provided valuable academic exchange opportunities for the journal but also opened new avenues for its international growth.
During the conference, the EEH editorial team distributed promotional materials to showcase the journal's accomplishments to international experts. Scholars and professionals shared their insights on environmental pollution and toxic substances, as well as exchanged experiences in journal publication and peer review processes, offering fresh ideas and perspectives for the journal's future trajectory.
The editorial team also engaged in meaningful discussions with members of the editorial board and young editorial board members,and collected a plethora of insightful comments. These interactions not only reinforced the ties between the journal and its board members but also explored potential collaborative opportunities, which are expected to further enhance the journal's impact within the international academic community.
During the symposium, the EEH editorial team met with the head of the Department of Ocean Science and Technology at the Faculty of Science and Technology of the University of Macau. They discussed potential collaboration models between the EEH journal and the college or department, aiming to bolster the journal's international influence.
